A Letter to Brett Favre [Jul. 16th, 2008|09:20 pm]
Dearest Brett,

It was 1994 when I first saw you take a snap on the football field and became a fan of your Green Bay Packers. It was 1996 when your had your most magical season, earning your second of three consecutive MVPs, and leading the team to a Super Bowl victory over the New England Douchebags. I remember the second play from scrimmage, when you audibled into a play action to Edgar Bennet, hitting Andre Rison for the first score of the game. Your joy for the game was so apparent, as you strapped of your helmet and ran around the field, red hair, braces, and all. Nowadays, such a celebration is considered a personal foul, but I believe if you were on that stage, you wouldn't celebrate any other way, albeit with your red hair now salt-and-pepper, and your braces removed. 1996 was also the year that the hit Backstreet Boys song "Quit Playing Games With My Heart" stormed the airwaves. It was earlier this month when you took put that song into effect and devastated my sports world. Your retirement ceremony in March was saddening, though it was a fitting an end to a legendary career. I took the day off classes so I could watch the press conference, and while I was sad that such a great era was ending, it was befitting, and most of all sincere. Pauly Shore, by far the greatest actor of our generation, could not cry like that. And with your announcement coming so early in the offseason, it allowed the Packers to coupe with a burden of your loss. The Packers drafted two young quarterbacks, including Matt Simms mentor Brian Brohm out of Louisville. OTAs were focused on changing the offensive scheme to accomodate the new youngins on the field. Your early announcement seemed like a blessing for a team determined to move forward.

But you couldn't stay away from the game. No, you wanted to Michael Jordan your way back into the limelight. Seriously, I don't want to point out the similarities between this video and this one.

This comeback is less Jordan, and more T.O.--meaning that you are behaving selfishly. On one hand, you have done so much for the Packer organization, but they in turn have created a legacy for you. I don't understand why you would want to destroy something that you and the team have collectively built. Rather, you are taking the Packers to the cleaners in the messiest divorce since Paul McCartney got raped by that one-legged bitch. This whole ordeal has made me realize I am a Packer fan first and a Brett Favre fan second. Brett, for the life of me, and all the actual fans who live in Wisconsin, stay retired, enjoy your golden years, and preserve your legacy so you don't look like a greedy bitch.

Sincerely,
Matt Oczkowski

P.S. Ryan Grant is a baller from Don Bosco. Represent.
